Childbirth is a normal physiological event.
Midwives trust pregnant people and their bodies! My goal as a midwife is to help you achieve the birth you hope for, and the safe delivery of a healthy baby, all while respecting your process along the way. An important part of that is working with you and your support system to build your knowledge, make informed decisions, ease your fears, and empower you with confidence and a sense of autonomy. I generally take a holistic approach; care for a pregnant, laboring, or postpartum person is physiological, emotional, and often spiritual. At this important time of transition for families, I not only provide up to date and evidence-based clinical care, but also a clear roadmap of what to expect, a listening ear, and a comforting, continuous presence.

As a private practice midwife, I am licensed to conduct all prenatal and postpartum visits, order labs, ultrasounds, and genetic screening, and because I limit how many clients I accept each month, I am dedicated and committed to attending your birth at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. The chances are very low that two births would ever happen at the exact same time, but in the rare case that a backup midwife is needed, I have relationships with other private practice midwives in the area, so there would never be a lapse in care. Although most labors are normal and uncomplicated, backup doctors are available should a higher level of intervention be needed for your delivery. When you choose me as your provider, I am on call for you, 24/7, throughout your entire pregnancy, labor, and up to six weeks postpartum.
